Los Arroyos Golf Club -- Great place for beginners
Review by: Shank My son played his first rounds of golf here. Excellent place for beginners or those wishing to concentrate on their short game. Lot's of memories for moms and dads.

Oakmont Country Club -- Tough but Fair
Review by: Alan Amitin Oakmont is a picturesque layout in the foothills of Glendale with lovely mountain views. The course is an old-style country club layout which rewards well planned out shotmaking. The greens are usually very fast and reward players for being below the hole. The Pac-10 Conference Championship was held at Oakmont in 2003 and only two players broke par (288) in a field of 50. The players found the par 3's particularly challenging. The greens are very well protected with sand bunkers and the fairways are heavily tree-lined. Best time to play Oakmont is in the spring and fall. I find the twelfth hole to be the most challenging. It is a 420 yard par four, uphill and terraced. The green is long and narrow, two-tiered and protected by a large bunker on the right and a drop-off hill and trees on the left.
