Known by the locals as the "rock pile", Pine Crest was going through some renovation the last time I played it in the summer of 04. This is an easy course to play, and is very hilly. Tee boxes look like the carpet on your Grandma's back porch. Most are in poor shape and will break a tee when setting up a tee shot. Greens are in fairly good shape for the most part and are fairly large. Fairways are wide open and part of the course goes through some heavily wooded sections. The good thing is the staff is friendly, and you can play 18 with a cart for reasonable money. The improvements being added should make this course even more appealing. Don't look for any beer carts at this course and be patient as its a favorite with the local seniors. Refreshments can be had at the small clubhouse, also being renovated. The attached Pitch and Putt Par 3 course is excellent for beginners. Lots of golf balls to be found in the OB areas here. Play here and take the money you save and spend it at one of the many local beer gardens where you can still buy a draft for a half a buck. |
