Knickerbocker Country Club -- never too crowded
Review by: Anonymous this is an excellent and very mature Ross couse that offers low handicappers plenty of challenges but isn't overwhelming for most high hancicappers as well

Essex County Country Club -- "The Big Course on The Mountain"
Review by: Bob Morris That's what noted golf writer Red Hoffman called Essex County Country Club many years ago. After a decade or so of mediocre conditioning, ECCC is now back on the list of NJ's best courses. A recent renovation by architect Gil Hanse has brought out the best and the beast of this old classic course. Where Tillinghast, Raynor and Banks created some of their better holes, Hanse has brought the course back to its original splendor, reshaping and restoring original bunkers, repositioning others, and getting rid of obtrusive growth of bushes, scrub pines, and out of place trees. The back nine is one of the best you will ever play.
