Ticonderoga Country Club -- Challenging long holes & tremendously manicured
Review by: David S. This 18-holer had a great mix of long and short holes, challenging and intermediate greens. This course is in particularly good condition year after year for such hard winters. Besides for some of the grumpy old men who play the course, and think they own it and let you know it (standard, yet dieing breed of golf clientele for some courses), I have had several fantastic rounds on this course.

Loon Lake Golf Course -- a step back in time
Review by: Mike This is a fun little course with gorgeous views on the wide open front nine and a true test of a golfer's abilities on the tight, wooded back nine. The back 9 was built in 1895 and is a well designed gem by noted golf course architect Seymour Dunn. Walk this quiet course and you'll feel like you've somehow stepped back in time. Avoid the black flies in late May/early June (they'll carry you away! If you can handle the little vampire bugs, playing this course on a breezy day in May with the die hard locals is a quietly rewarding experience). Play this course in late June/early July for a real treat. September golf is also fun here and the colors late in the month are spectacular, especially from the 9th green. Course maintenance is minimal, but the small crew does wonders with the budget they have to work with. Don't miss playing this course as the future is uncertain--the owners are unsure whether the course will remain open for much longer. This is a unique golf experience for anyone interested in the roots and origin of the game of golf. Thanks, Mike
