Marshallia Ranch Golf Course -- Marshallia Rocks
Review by: John Aleck This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

Apple Mountain Golf Resort -- stunning vistas
Review by: garth mason This is THE course in the greater sacramento area for variety of challenges. Lots of unlevel lies and 100 ft. high rough. Don't let the short yardage fool you. No out of bounds but lots of lost balls if you're not straight. Beginning golfers beware. This track could change your mind about continuing in this sport. Stick to flat open valley fairways to groove a swing before venturing here & maybe leave the driver at home. It's worth a cart fee just to view the course before tackling it. I love it.
