Marshallia Ranch Golf Course -- Marshallia Rocks
Review by: John Aleck This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

Calabasas Golf & Country Club -- Classic, Fair Design
Review by: Avid Golfer The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr., and was opened in 1968. Thanks to their genius, it is a great, classic course that you will never get bored playing. This course requires all facets of your game. There are up hill holes, down hill holes, right to left doglegs and left to right dog legs. It is a shot-maker's course. The rough can be a bit clumpy and spotty, but this adds to the penalty of missing the fairways. The grass in the fairways can be a little uneven too but with the hiring of a new greens-keeper / superintendent, the greens are now rolling faster and smoother than ever and the fairways should be improving as well. The course is scheduled to get a whole new irrigation system too. Even though the course is set in the middle of Calabasas, you really feel secluded when playing there. The staff and members are warm and friendly, and the food is absolutely excellent!
