White Bluff Resort - The New Course -- True test of golf
Review by: RAB The New Course at White Bluff Resort is a true test of golf. I am biased, but this course will compete with any public course in the state. It is the annual host of Texas State Open. At 7,000 yards from the tips, length is not your concern. 1,2 and 3 are almost claustrophobic and getting to number 4 tee will bring a sigh of relief. You need to score on 4-8 and make par on 9 to keep a good round going. On 10, you'll need to stay left on large oak on the right side of the fairway. Water is lurking just behind the bunker. 11 is your best opportunity for birdie on the back. 12 is the signature hole on the New Course. The fairway is usually firm and you only need to play to 150 yd marker. Pray for a three on 15 and take a look at the green on 16 before swinging away on this dogleg right par 5. 18 is the #1 handicap and is a 460 yd. 4 par that plays into the prevailing south wind. Par here is a great score. If the 16 holes with water in play bother you, stop by the Old Course. It is an exceptional golf course that will produce birdie as easily as it will a triple.
