Riverton Golf Club -- Great value/tough holes
Review by: Howard Johnson This course starts with the hardest starting hole in the Rochester area. Dogleg par 5 with Genesee River on the left the entire way. Second hole is a tough par 4 with bunkers in front of the green. Water comes into play on 5 holes. Greens and fairway are normally in great condition. It's a 9 holer, but for a good challenge at a nice price, you can't beat Riverton. I now live in AZ and refuse to pay what they want for a round out here.

Mosholu Golf Course & Driving Range -- Where's the green?
Review by: Matt W. I just played Mosholu for the first time (7/15/04). Very close to public transit (4 train uptown to last stop). Staff was nice. Nice sized driving range and practice putting green. Your round starts out with the hardest hole on the course which is a little intimidating. A very small creek comes into play on two holes and there are no bunkers. Besides the two par 3's (which are 190 and 230 yards long!), I think 6 out of the remaining 7 holes all have blind tee shots. There's always a little bit of a hill in front of you so you have to have faith in the scorecard diagram. There are no severe doglegs so it's not too tricky. The blind shots also make it a little hard to know when the group in front of you is out of the way. The tee boxes are really no good. They're uneven and the grass is poor. It also seems like they've done some renevations because there are two old greens in the middle of fairways that are roped off as "free drop" areas. It's going to take a few more rounds before I learn the course and can enjoy playing here. It's a little frustrating not knowing where or when to hit. I'll definitely be back, though.
