Landsmeer Golf Club -- A British Open Feel
Review by: dan What makes Landsmeer tick is the usual 20 mph wind and the tall prairie grass off the fairways. These two factors, and especially the wind, make this course quite a challenge. There are a handful of trees on the entire course. Most of them do not come into play, except for the two tall trees in front of the green left and right on #7. The fairways are quite wide, but accuracy is still important. If you miss the fairway, you will usually be hitting from sometimes waist-high prairie grass which give terrible lies, that is if you can find your ball in it. Make sure you do all of your scoring before the last three holes. #16 is a fairly long, uphill, dogleg right par 4 with prairie grass right and left. #17 is a long par 3 that often plays into the wind. When the wind comes from the north, #18, already a long par 4, plays much longer. Playing the last three holes in 1 over is an excellent finish. This is an exciting course that kind of makes you feel like you are playing at the British Open.
