Oakmont Country Club "Tough but Fair" Oakmont is a picturesque layout in the foothills of Glendale with lovely mountain views. The course is an old-style country club layout which rewards well planned out shotmaking. The greens are usually very fast and reward players for being below the hole.
The Pac-10 Conference Championship was held at Oakmont in 2003 and only two players broke par (288) in a field of 50. The players found the par 3's particularly challenging.
The greens are very well protected with sand bunkers and the fairways are heavily tree-lined.
Best time to play Oakmont is in the spring and fall.
I find the twelfth hole to be the most challenging. It is a 420 yard par four, uphill and terraced. The green is long and narrow, two-tiered and protected by a large bunker on the right and a drop-off hill and trees on the left. ---Alan Amitin, Los Angeles, CA
Wampatuck Country Club "Very good golf course" Well designed course is kept in great condition. Greens are as good any you will find. If this was an 18 hole it would be one of the best in Massachusetts. ---John Thornton, MA
Springtree Country Club "no good" Me and a friend played this course yesterday...
the 1st hole is a temporary parking lot and it is replaced by the driving range area which has been converted into a boring first hole.
the course is poorly maintained and mostly boring.
it is full of longer par 3's considering it is an executive course.
if it was cheaper it would be worth it possibly if it was under 10 dollars a round. ---Tom, Sunrise, FL
Melrose Country Club "Short but Tough" I've been playing this course since I was 10 yrs old and have only parred it once. I have my only hole-in-one on the 7th hole which is a tough 203 yd par three. I have had many eagles on the par fives but always struggle with the tough par fours. It is a challenge and will probably always remain that way. Tight throughout the course layout. I love playing here! ---Al Kuchler, Philadelphia, PA
