This course was built on rolling terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies. The fairways are narrow and tree lined, and the fast greens are well bunkered. Water hazards come into play on at least ten holes. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 5th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and they also rated it the 10th "Best in State" course for 1995-96. The senior discount is available on Tuesday and Wednesday before 11 AM. Walking the course is only permitted on weekdays.

Challenging but fair, May 03, 2004
reviewer: Michael from Knoxville,TN
I played it the for the first time 5/1/04 and found it to be an excellent course. The holes varied but all had rolling mounds which hurt and helped the wayward shot. Shorter par 4's have bunkers and water protecting it from all but the longeast hitters. Sand and grass bunkers everywhere. Took five hours for the round because of a slow group. Rangers were on top of them all day, but it did not help. Drink girl came by one time. $64.00 on weeekends is pricey where I live, but typical Atlanta golf. High handicappers beware. Might not have a great time if you shoot in the mid 90's. Greens were undulating and consistent in speed. I would play again for sure. I shot an 83 from the whites which played 5800 yards. I was thrilled with that score since I had never seen it before.

Great layout, Jan 24, 2004

This course has it all! Some very challenging holes, as well as a few tameable ones. The holes vary, some are flat and others have rising or falling terrain. Most fairways have some undulation. The scenery is serene, especially the holes near Lake Acworth. If you haven't played here, you are missing out on a GA treasure.
