This course was built on rolling hills and offers many scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Water hazards come into play on nine holes. In addition, shot accuracy is essential because numerous sand bunkers have been positioned on the fairways and around the greens. The "St. Louis Post Dispatch" rated this as the #1 course in the area for the past three years. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 10th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and as the 65th best under the category of "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" in their 1996 list of "America's Best Golf Courses Everyone Can Play." The club hosted the 1996 USGA Women's Public Links Championship.

BEST VALUE FOR THE BUCK, Feb 11, 2005

This Arnold Palmer designed course not only offers a challenge to the experienced golfer but also has a 9 hole training course, which has 7 par 3s a par 4 and a par 5. The player�s club membership offers the training course and driving range for $30.00 a month.

Highlands Country Club
"Great Mountain Course"
Although you must golf with a member, Highlands offers a wide variety of challenges. Varying lies, fast greens, and narrow fairways makes Highlands a highly likeable course. A recent resodding of the fairways to Kentucky bluegrass has made this already aesthetic course even more beautiful.

McPherson Country Club
"MCC was a tough little course"
I played in a Tourney there in June. It is a short course but one that demands shaping shots. MCC has postage stamp greens that are sloped and at times faster than any greens you will find anywhere. It is not uncommon to 3 or 4 whack on these greens that were well manicured. MCC is not your typical golf course but thats what makes it tough and fun. Bring your nerves cause this course is not a push-over to score low on.

Grand Beach Golf Course
"Wally and Theve"
This used to be a great starter course, but it is way over priced for 9 holes. For 18 holes on a weekend it approaches $35. It is trying to be something it isn't. Used to play there all the time. Do not go there any more.
