This true links-style course is set on a bluff, offering breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from every hole. The sculptured fairways offer generous landing areas, although some can be rather tight and demanding. Large, well-undulating greens, playing very fast, increase the level of difficulty. The signature hole is #15, a lengthy 633-yard, par 5. This sweeping dog-leg left features a narrow lay-up area, with the green perched 200 feet above Lake Michigan.

| I haved played this course aboout a dozen times. The hairs on the back of my neck still stand up when I pull into the driveway! This place is truly "holy" ground for me. For the first time player, you will, for sure, be on "sensory overload" When you are out there playing, with that beautiful vista surrounding you ask yourself, "can it get any better than this"? As far as the course itself, it is tough but fair. To enjoy it, play from the tees that TRULY reflect your skill level. Pitching and putting is what makes or breaks your score on this course to be sure! There is nothing better than on 18 green surrounded by the adirondack chairs and the crowd cheering a great shot or jeering a choked effort. Lots of fun! Also, on Fri and Sat afternoons and evenings they have a local bagpiper out playing, truly inspiriing. You must stay and have a beverage or delicious dinner either outside on the deck or inside to watch a most incredible sunset into Lake Michigan. |

Arcadia Bluffs, Aug 23, 2005 |

| We played the course on Sunday, August 21, 2005. We played from the white tees - about 6300 yards. The course is beautiful, impeccably maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful (with the exception of there being no cart beverage service, at least on the Sunday we were there). But a warning: unless you are about a 15 or lower handicapper, get ready for a very frustrating day. Most holes have long carries from the tee box. Most par 4's are long - one 441 yards, in to the wind (about 20 -30 mph gusts when we played) off the lake, slightly uphill. The greens are all tiered. Three putting is not at all hard to do. If you are a hacker like me, the best approach is to forget about score and enjoy the scenery. |
