Bobby Jones Golf Course

This course was built on hilly terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies. The fairways are average width, and the greens are full of subtle breaks. Water hazards (two lakes) come into play on three holes. The signature hole is #9, a 360-yard, par 4, featuring a scenic view of the City of Atlanta and requiring a blind tee shot to a narrow, tree-lined fairway.

| The Problems are 1) Most of it lies in the flood plain for Peachtree Battle Creek, which often gets flooded. Not much the grounds folks can do about it. 2)Slow play - which happens every weekend due to overcrowding. Marshals would help. 3) Condition - a bargain price for greens fees, but that doesn't leave much of a budget for rolling/rebuilding greens & bunkers, let alone filling in bare spots and eliminating weeds. However, if you want to save some money and play a relatively short course, this is the spot for you. Some tee shots can be demanding due to mature trees. If you can shape your shots off the tee, this course is a breeze. |

| Considering the course was built in 1932, it was in great shape 4-21-05.You are playing a piece of history. The greens and fairway are well maintained. The course is walker friendly and if you are not accurate with each shot you could pay the price on some of the hilly fairways. The course is narrow and the greens are slow. You will have several birdie chances. |

| Not a bad course given its location in the city. The state of the greens varies greatly from one to the next, and some of the fairways are victims of overly aggressive mowing. But for an inexpensive and fun round, definitely check it out. |

| This course was designed by Bobby Jones himself and resides amongst the trees in a nicer area of the city of Atlanta. It's not too costly and it is pretty well maintained. I highly recommend it. |

Not bad, but not great, Jun 25, 2004 |

| Bobby Jones has a lot of interesting things going on. Tree lined fairways where you can for the most part hit driver are a plus. Several rivers and streams to lay up from and hit over. There are some shorter holes where an iron should be used. The greens have always been slow. This summer they have filled in a lot and allowed a good firm putt to roll true. Its a fun course to play on a week day when no one is out there and you can move around quickly. Otherwise it can be painfully slow. Just played it today and noticed another draw back. Many holes sit in a washout area, so if you are playing it after a rainstorm watch out it could be very muddy. Nevertheless, once it dries out it is a pleasure to play. I am a 9 handicap and I posted even par today, so that might tell you a little more about the level of difficulty. Or the way I played. Either way it was fun. |

Great rates for downtown, but maybe a bit compact., May 16, 2004 |

| The front nine is loaded with hilly terrain, accomodating two par threes and more than one par fours distancing less than 350 yards. Nice views of rolling fairway on 5 and midtown skyline on 9. The back nine is flat and open. Holes are lined with tall, "fore"-boding oaks. My only real complaint for the course is a lack in consistency of the greens. Putting on 15 is great. You might bring your 6 iron to put on 3. |
