| This is the best maintained, 9 hole, public golf course I have ever encountered. It is challenging with many features that will test the mettle of adventurous low handicappers, yet allows the beginning and intermediate players plenty of chances to display their best shots.
Staff is pleasant and helpful. Great practice green and driving range. Rates are reasonable. |

| I was very skeptical when my neighbor took me to Black Oak a few weeks ago. A little nine holer in Auburn you play twice for around 20 bucks scared me to death. I figured this was a pasture at best. What an absolute shock!! This place is lush, gorgeous, and challenging. The only drawback is that it's only nine holes. I've played golf over 30 years, and have yet to find a better nine holer. |

| What a find! Folks might think - for such a cheap rate - it would be a goat track or a cow pasture (as my husband has referred to a few places we've stumbled across)... but NOT this course! Black Oak is a beautiful, peaceful setting with lush fairways and well-maintained greens; water, sand, big trees, and wildlife (deer & wild turkeys!) My husband is a much better golfer (handicap 12) than myself (handicap 34) - but this little course was challenging & fun for both of us. The staff was very accommodating, welcoming us for a walk-on round of golf while on our way up to Reno. They have power carts but the course is a gorgeous walk. We thoroughly enjoyed playing there, and only wished it was 18 holes - instead of just 9! |
