This course was built on semi-hilly terrain, so you can expect some uneven lies. The fairways are typically wide, and a pond comes into play on two holes. The signature hole is #3, a 575-yard, par 5, requiring an approach shot over water to the green. In the springtime, the course bursts with beautiful dogwoods and azaleas tucked into the tall pines. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay redesigned a portion of the course in 1986. Tee times are only reserved for weekends and holidays, up to seven days in advance. The 5,765-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 73.4 and a slope of 126. Bobby Jones won the Southeastern Open here during his Grand Slam year of 1930.

If you have heard bad things, come play it now!, Nov 24, 2009
reviewer: Brendan O'Connell from Augusta, Ga
I have been playing forrest hills since 1992.Then in 2002 they decided to redesign the course to make it a bit more difficult. When it opened back up the course was in horrible shape. The greens were as soft as my driveway, and there was not much grass on the course. In those days everyone that played it got a horrible taste in there mouth. However, in the last few years the course has done a complete 180. The improvements are thanks to Darren Davinport,Bill Robinson, and there staff

Forest Hills is much improved this year, Aug 23, 2007
reviewer: Anonymous from Augusta, GA
Forest Hills is much improved this year. The greens have finally grown out of their patchwork from last years modifications and will usually hold well hit balls. Most of the fairways are lush, with only a few hard and bare areas from carts. Bunkers were removed from the front of #2 and #9 and these areas have not completly filled with turf. The range has all new balls this year, but the price has gone up to $4 a bag. Some of the deeper woodsy areas could still use cleaning of their excess leaves and limbs, especially around some of the greens (#2 is the worst) and along the OB road that borders #17 & #18.

Superb Back Nine!, Oct 08, 2006
reviewer: Sammie Jackson from Augusta, GA
I played the back nine on Sunday, October 8th in the morning. The fairways had dew and the greens were very nice. Three of the greens had some work done to them recenlty (looked like a patchwork blanket on half of the green). I haven't played this course since 1999 and was impressed the back 9! Enjoy your next round @ FHGC!

Nice course but the greens are as hard as pavement. Reasonable value but better courses in the immediate area.

Not worth playing, Apr 15, 2005
reviewer: Sean from New York
I would not recommend this course to anyone. The fairways are horrible with spots of grass everywhere. They have the nerve to charge $110 the week of the Masters when the course is worth $20 on a good day.

B. Lovell's thoughts., Apr 18, 2004
reviewer: Anonymous from Augusta, Ga
I found this course to be very relaxing and enjoyable to play on, due mainly to the pleasant staff, and wonderful scenery for lack of better words as I walked this course. The only problem I really noticed, was the lack of course maps, and the accidental missplacement of a couple of the tee boxes, but that was just human error. All in all, I had a great time, and can't wait to play when the greens are fully grassed over.
