Played South @ North Courses. South is short but challenging. Very enjoyable. Lots of character. Great condition. Flowers everywhere. North Course is a newly opened(2003) exceptional layout. Both courses are well worth the trip. You won't be disappointed.

"interesting course"
The greens are well kept and very fast at times. Many are sloped and undulated which makes putting difficult at times. The course is pretty open but has a nice layout.

Lake Wilderness Golf Course
"Good targeted golf layout"
Likes: This is a good test of any golfers skill. It requires you to think and plan from the tee. Golfers who like to pull out "The Big Dog" and grip it and rip it on every hole will not like this course. The course forces you to play smart to score well. There are risk/reward holes worth the gamble, and others that attempt to sucker you. If you play smart you can score well at Lake Wilderness. If not, it may be a long day. This is a shorter course. The clubhouse has good food and good beer. Dislikes: Only one really. I don't care for holes where there are houses close. This course has a handful of them.

Piankatank River Golf Club
"Virginia Golf at it's finest!"
Played this course early March 2004. Fairways were still dormant, greens in fairly good condition, rolled very true. Cart paths still need to be finished, most are gravel. Front nine is a lot of elevation changes and then the back nine opens up, with spectacular views of the Piankatank River. Did not eat at restaurant, however it was busy during lunch. Staff was friendly. A must play course!
