This course, located in Robert Moses State Park, is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Great South Bay on the other. The terrain is reminiscent of a links-style course, with sand dunes and beach grass lining the layout. The lone par 4 is located on hole #13, which measures only 110 yards. The fairway runs parallel to the Fire Island Inlet, offering incredibly scenic views.

Good for practicing your short game., Apr 19, 2004

I went with 2 buddies for a Sunday morning outing. All we needed was our 9 iron, pitching wedge and putter. There were a couple challenging holes but for the most part, it was a pretty straightforward course.

Hyde Park Golf Club
"Wide Open Drive"
Fairly well kept course, the fairways are wide open for the most psrt, so if you lose your new Titlest, its your fault...There are a few water hazards in challengable spots. Bunkers are all easily avoidable. This is actually a challenging course, but one that wont drive you nuts with every stroke. Its also a pretty good course for those who arent, Arnold Palmer. You have to know your game, but it allows for mistakes, without costing you 3 strokes. The trees are beautiful, and the wildlife around the course adds to the experience. Its nice to find a place like this tucked among the city, and tall radio towers, which are right in the middle of the course, between holes nine and ten, which is the primary problem spot for this course. Its priced right, and a good challenge for the money.

"It's the people"
I love this golf course. I play in a tournament here every year. I always think I'm going to do better but it has these challenges that change my swing. You will find yourself protecting against going out of bounds, water hazards, sand, trees...they have it all. The number 9 eats me up. It's a dogleg right and if you can manage to stay away from the small canyon on the right you still have the challenge getting on the green that you better save an extra stroke for! Be careful if you go over this green....nothing but trouble. The main thing about this course is the people. They treat you like you were the only one playing that day. You will love the scenery also.

Lakeland Hills Golf Course
"Getting better every day"
Lakeland is a great course for the money. New owners took over is 2002 or so. Hard to remember because we don't play it regularly. They have added new features every year, trees, bridges, new tee boxes, etc.The front nine is fairly open, hard to get into too much trouble. Watch out for some water. We prefer the back nine. It's a little more hilly, still has some water. Nothing to worry about. Lakeland has the best drainage of any course we have ever seen. It is open unless there is snow on the ground. We have played this course in Feb., when a winter thaw and 50 degree days suprized us all. Just played in on Jan 3, 2004 when we has another winter warm spell. Jackson has lots and lots of great courses. No one would ever be disappointed taking a golfing holiday in Jackson, Michigan.
