A disgrace, Sep 04, 2009

This was probably the most poorly maintained course I have ever played. The fairways were overgrown, making it difficult to find a ball in the middle of the fairway. There were large weeds surrounding most of the greens, and the greens had numerous bald spots. The undergrowth in the wooded areas bordering the fairways was so thick, a ball hit into the woods would be immediatley considered lost.

Most Under Par Golf Course I've Ever Seen, Aug 25, 2009

Played Cedar Creek Golf Course in Bayville on 8/24/09. I've played probably thirty golf courses in NJ over the past fifteen years, and some really nice courses in South Carolina and Maryland. I have never played on a golf course like Cedar Creek in my life. The only thing in worse shape than the fairways, were the greens. The layout of the course is not the problem. The care and condition of the course is. The fairways were mostly weeds or totally bare spots, and the greens were covered with bare spots and in some cases weeds. The fairways were in most cases not even cut, and if you landed in the fairway you felt like you were playing from the rough most of the time. The final insult to the golfer was the cost... The greens fees including a motorized cart for a non-resident were $42 dollars. That might not sound like much for some courses, but this course should have been either free, or at the most $10 a round including the cart. It was very evident that the course was being used as a cash cow, and that greens fees were not used to care for the course in any way. I would suggest to anyone thinking of playing this course to consider miniture golf instead, or going to a driving range...

I played this course on 8/16/09. I brought someone from out of town with me. Two golfers coming off the course as we were starting told us the course was in terrible shape. When we started to play, we realized their evaluation was right. I was shocked at the condition of this course. Tee boxes were nothing but dirt and stone, the rough grass appeared not to have been cut in months, greens were unkept, with large dirt/mud patches, and the greens were completely dried out. Huge pieces of tree branches were everywhere. Considering how nice the rest of this complex is, baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, grandstand, I can't understand why the course is so neglected. It surely isn't worth the $46 they charged us to play. We skipped the last 4 holes because we just couldn't stay there anymore. I was embarrassed that I brought someone there.I felt like asking for my money back.
