This course, built in a forest preserve, is one of twelve Audubon Society "Signature Courses" in the United States. The fairways are generously-sized, which is good, since they transition suddenly to very thick native area. Large, undulated fairways afford a wide variety of challenging pin placements. Hole #16, a 578-yard, par 5, features a double fairway bordered by water on the right, and bunkers on the left. The well-protected green is tucked back right, demanding an accurate approach. Carts are mandatory Friday through Sunday. The 5,905-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 74.2 and slope of 133.

Great Design, Jan 04, 2005 |

| Like the previous gentleman, I too am a Warren High School Graduate and I too played golf all four years. I was MVP for 2 of those years and Captain for 3 years. Of all the courses in Lake County, I think that this course is very close to being number one. Very well kept and a great layout. I have only played there twice and although I shot well, it was a challange. Would recommend to anyone in the area. |

Second Time Out., Oct 10, 2004 |

| The second time out (2 years later) at Thunderhawk was more impressive than the first. To preface, I go on an annual trip to Florida to golf and we play World Woods and some other nice courses. Thunderhawk is as nice as World Woods and Mickelson & Toms had a match at WW. Thunderhawk doesn't have alligators, though. The course is beautiful, the greens are in great shape and the staff is very courteous. Thunderhawk features several different tee boxes for golfers of all skills. The fairways are wide enough to allow some degree of spraying and there isn't any point on the golf course that doesn't look like it belongs there. Although I didn't break 100, I still will come back again and again and not wait two years to do so. |
