This tight course features many elevated and extremely fast greens. Water hazards (five small ponds and a large pond) come into play on five holes. Hole #14, a 419-yard, par 4, has water completely surrounding the back of the green, plus a sand bunker on the right. This course has hosted U.S. Senior and Amateur qualifying, as well as some state tournaments. The 6,200-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 75.8 and slope of 134. The 5,374-yard ladies' tee also has a men's course rating of 66.4 and slope of 115.

Gibson Woods is a challenging public golf course in Monmouth, IL. It is a mature course that challenges the golfer to play the fairway on most holes. The course features lots of trees, some water, and some elevated greens. The course favors the accurate golfer more than the long ball hitter. Although an accurate long ball hitter will consistently score well here. The course is very well maintained, has a driving range, and is generally only crowded on weekends.

"Fun, enjoyable Course"
Some of the most severe greens I have ever putted on. Leaving your approach shot in the correct spot on most greens is vital to avoid 3 (or 4) putts. Not an extremely long course, but the Blue Tees offer a nice challenge, and the greens certainly make up for it. Paired with the extremely affordable rates Oxbow charges, this is a can't miss opportunity when in Southern Ohio.
