Not Pebble Beach, But Still Pretty Good, Sep 14, 2010
reviewer: NJ Matt from Montclair, NJ
I don't know what these other guys are complaining about--- I went last week, and this place is fine. It's not going to blow your mind, but for a public course in NJ, it's fine. Actually a lot better than a lot of the ones I've seen in some of the other counties. I do, however, agree with what one guy said, that the out-of-county rates are a bit high for what you get. I'd give this 3.5 stars. Again, not deluxe, but plenty good.

Hendricks Field is a terrible golf course, Jun 29, 2009
reviewer: JRS from Essex County, NJ
Essex County and the superintendant of Hendricks should be ashamed that this is considered a county course. The course is in terrible shape and you cannot distinguish the rough from the fairway, nor can you find your ball if you miss the "fairway". The tee boxes are all temporary and the 45 yard par 3 is ridiculous. $67 for non card holders with a riding cart is $60 too much. Unfortunately this website makes me give the course one star, but I will never play here again.

Outsource the course!, Oct 06, 2008
reviewer: Daydreamer from Essex
This course is really awful. The county should outsource the whole thing to a group that rejuvinate the course and then let them run the place like a golf course should be run. PS - 1 star rating only because the comment won't post with zero stars.

Hendricks, baby!, Oct 01, 2008
reviewer: Eldrick Faversham, Jr. from Belleville, NJ
Hendricks is the nicest course in NJ and would give Augusta National a run for its money. It is a joy to play there with its perfectly maintained greens, lush fairways and immaculate tee boxes- all this for the amazing low greens fee price of $1.99...amazing! I hope the PGA tour holds a major (or at least a minor) there because I doubt those pro's could break 75 at Hendricks.

Cheap and Fast, Mar 25, 2008
reviewer: Joe Huber from Gilbert, Arizona
Only course I've ever played where if you take more then 4 seconds to hit your ball you may get shot. It is an expierence to hear all through your round " Hit the F****** Ball " echo throughout the course. Every Country Club golfer should play this unique course once.

CHEM FREE LAWN, Jun 12, 2007
reviewer: FRUSTRATED COUNTY MEMBER from ESSEX COUNTY
When will the county hire a greenskeeper or at least someone who knows what he is doing. The fairways are parched from being cut too short, the greens are in poor shape, tee boxes are overrun with weeds (only some are open) flooding of storm drains especially around the11th green(hazardous condition)and they still raise the green fees. This course is in the worst condition of the 3 county courses.
