This course has heavily tree-lined fairways. There is a creek that flows throughout this course which comes into play on ten holes. The signature hole is #18, a 515-yard, par 5, which has recently been redesigned and plays right to the base of the clubhouse. The recently enlarged pond has been expanded to three times its original size, which when combined with the ever-present stream, makes hole #18 not only beautiful, but a strenuous finishing hole.

Expensive, pretty course, Jul 06, 2005

As private courses go, Glendale is pretty average. Some exceptional holes to go with some very blase holes. Course is maintained pristinely, which you would expect. Staff is great. Not a value for those looking for one.

Bent Creek Country Club
"Exquisite Conditioning"
I was a member at Bent Creek for ten years until moving to South Carolina. Day in and day out, compared with top caliber courses, this is probably the best conditioned course in the Mid-Atlantic area. Tees, fairways, and greens are bent grass, as are the practice tees and even one of the two practice ranges. The course is more difficult than its slope and course rating indicate, with very difficult holes at the start, especially from the back tees. It is a great course for average players from the regular men's tees, and a fantastic test for better players from the back. An under-par score from the back tees is exceptional.

"Golf Heaven"
This wonderful Tom Fazio design offers a truly great experience. It can only be played with a member. Don't worry about a starting time or slow play, the members are rare. I've been told that if you can find a weed in any fairway, they will give you a membership! ($175,000/player plus dues) Every hole has it's own personality and most (10) involve water. A desert design that requires accuracy off the tee, and a back nine into an old quarry up in the mountains, the course is very challenging, but has incredible views of Indio (All putts break that way.) Chances are that you won't get the opportunity to play this track, but if you do, don't miss it!

"Donald Ross at his best"
Don't let the yardage fool you. This is one course where you'll use every club in your bag. On the short 138yd par 3 8th hole, get on the wrong side of the green and good luck making par...you'll need it. From the railroads that cuts across the course to the small doomed green, your in for a great day, if you can find par that is....

"Irons Perfection!"
If you want to work on your Iron shots, this course, by far, is the best one I've ever seen! I don't even bother taking my drivers when I go to this course! 3, 7, 9 Iron, PW, SW, and a Putter is all you need -- or any other Irons you're most comfortable with.
