This course has well-manicured greens, and the fairways afford generous landing areas. The signature hole is #8, a 145-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over a waterfall that empties into a pond in front of the green. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 10th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. Golfers may only walk the course after noon on weekends. Discounted green fees are in effect after 2 PM.

| I have played Maplegate several times this season on weekdays. The staff has been quite friendly, I have not experienced the roving rangers with stopwatches that some have complained about. This is a fun and challenging course that is in great shape. Highly recommended! |

Worst Ownership in the state, Dec 17, 2007 |

| I reviewed this course online and was actually excited to play it. I had purchased a subscription to golfing magazine online, and included with the subscription is a free golf certificate, allowing for one free round at several dozen courses in the northeast. The certificate has restrictions in that you can only play Mon-Thurs, but it is still a good deal nonetheless. I called Maplegate in mid-September to set up my tee time, and checked to make sure I would be able to use my golf certificate when I arrived. The first person I spoke with didn't really know about the certificate (I'm not surprised, I'm guessing they hadn't seen one yet), so he transferred me to the owner. I was absolutely disgusted with the manner in which this person spoke to me. Besides the unbelievably rude attitude, I was told that in order to play my complimentary round, I would need to bring an entire foursome with me, with the other 3 players paying full price. The purpose of this free golf certificate is to give underplayed courses some exposure in order to increase their popularity. The ownership at Maplegate clearly does not understand this simple concept. I've heard repeatedly that this course has the worst ownership in the state, and I could not agree more. Not only will I never play this course under its current ownership, I warned every golfer I know about Maplegate. |

DO NOT PLAY!, Aug 15, 2006 |

| We provided them with a large group of players this past year only to get treated very poorly again. I and many other players in the area will NEVER RETURN to Maplegate to play under the current ownership. They treat people as bad as they can with zero manners. On the morning we played my foursome all shot in the 80's in 4 hrs 30 mins and still got "bullied" by the owner/ranger. A similar situation occurred about three years ago while playing at Maplegate. I should have learned and stayed away for good. |

Terrible Attitude, Jul 11, 2005 |

| I can not believe any business can last the way this course has with the way they treat the golfers. The course is a nice and challenging course but way over priced for what you get. I would never play again. You can basically name your tee time because people have to many other options to play and are treated way better. If the fee was cut in half I may think about playing it and putting up with the crape from the staff. I have played waverly oaks, atlantic CC, new england CC and red tail for roughly the same money and been treated awesome. |

Good course, but not worth the $$, Jul 28, 2004 |

| I think most people would agree that this course has a great layout, and when in good shape is challenging and fun to play. But, the price is too high for the amenities offered. No clubhouse (just a trailer), bossy and overbearing rangers, and rude staff. Lower the price, lose the attitude, and it's a great place to play... |

A Disgrace!!!, May 30, 2004 |

| This was by far the biggest rip-off I have ever seen. The owners should be indicted for fraud. $72 a round is an absolute joke. What else can I say, the rest of the reviews say it all. No wonder the parking lot is empty...Don't make the mistake and play here, unless they lower the green fees to $35. |

overpriced, Mar 20, 2004 |

| This is a nice golf course but it doesn't warrant a $72 fee with cart. In fact its not even close. It would be an excellent course for $50. It has a trailer for a clubhouse, no support staff or services(bag drop crew, club cleaning etc.) I have to go to the car wash after every round due to the lack of a paved parking lot (crushed stone and lots of dust or mud when wet). If you want to spend $72 wisely, go to Shaker Hills or Cyprian Keys. |
