This hilly course has many mature oak trees that can alter your shots. Both sand bunkers and water hazards protect the wide open fairways and the average-sized greens. Hole #3, a 394-yard, par 4, has a creek coming into play in front of the tee box and again in front of the green.

Stateline's best Municipal Course, May 04, 2010

Played the course just last week & its in the best shape ever & diffantly better than any other municipal course in the WI/IL Stateline area. Rates are very reasonable @ $30 for 18 holes with a Cart during the week & $37 on the weekend. Twilight is even better @ $22 after 4pm for unlimited holes. Some of my favorite holes are #4 - if you miss the green, you don't want to end up in the sand trap on the right; it's tough getting out over the retaining wall! #14 is pristine with the pond, spray fountain & waterfall! If you keep your shots straight, you'll be fine, but there are plenty of trees along each fairway to give you trouble if your not in the fairway. I usually shoot in the 80's, but felt I had a good around with a 91. The clubhouse is nothing special, but the cold beer & friendly atmosphere make it inviting for staying around for the #19 hole! I'd recommend around at Krueger anyday!

Pine Creek Golf Course
"Golfing guru makes spectacular analysis"
There are too many geese deficating on the fairways. Plus I found there to be only one hole per green. This proves to be much too challenging for novice golfers such as myself. Multiple holes and flags on each green would be a great improvement to your facility. Are the ponds really necessary? By filling them in with dirt it would provide golfers with more hitting surfaces. One tree per hole will suffice, too many trees takes the fun out of the game. Another suggestion would be to eliminate ob and thin all grass. Sand was much too sandy and loose. Doing away with the sand would draw more golfers with superior skills such as myself.

"Great Fun"
As someone who is trying to improve his golf game I find the wide fairways inviting and forgiving. Holes that are not so long that they become intimidating, but still provide a good challenge. Some of the uphills are still a bit scary even though they are short holes. Each hole provides a different scenario, with most of them giving you an opportunity to think about how you want to approach them. They challenge the mind a little, and that's a good thing. I really enjoy this course each time I play it.

Great course. Great shape. The only problem is the people you may play with. Every now and than you get the stuck-up Hampton type. If you can tune that kind of stuff out you will have a great time. My advice would be to play from the tips.

Mallard Pointe Golf Course (The Magnolia Trace) - Championship Course
"Formidable - Challenging - Beautiful"
I think for a woman, this is a medium difficulty course. The rolling terrain does tend to help with distance, and most of the fairways are well banked to help keep you in the middle. However, for the serious slice or hook, there's nothing but trouble! My favorite holes are the 9th and 18th with their disappearing fairways eaten out by the lake. You must carry them to hit the greens. It's do-able in regulation for ladies, but you need to be aware of the hazard. M.L. Duffy
