This is a very hilly course with many trees. The first eight holes are fairly tight, but the last ten are more open. Hole #16, a 216-yard, par 3, offers "probably the most memorable golf shot in central Oregon," according to the course personnel. The steep elevation change from the tee box allows for a two-club drop in club selection. "Golf Digest" called this course one of the best places to play. The Deschutes River runs adjacent to the course, and water comes into play on a few holes. The 6,128-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 76.3 and a slope or 144.

I live in Bend even on River's Edge and I play alot of the courses in bend but i just can't figure this one out it's such a fun course. You don't realize how bad your doing until the end because of how entertaining it is. You have to play this course!

Great Course, May 17, 2004
reviewer: Mark from Portland, OR
This was my favorite course out of the 4 I played on my Bend golf vacation. The others were Sunriver Meadows, Lost Tracks, and Widgi Creek. This was the most demanding and also had the most memorable holes. In fact, standing on the first tee box, I felt the hole could double as a ski jump in the winter it because it was so steep. My advice, get a cart. I walked it and was very tired by the end and my score suffered because of it. Lots and lots of up's and down's. It's very unique. Well worth the price.

Rear-kicking Challenge, May 06, 2004
reviewer: Dale Graf from Selah, WA USA
This course was truly a delight to play. Tricky and sadistic on a few holes with tight lava rock lined fairways. A conservative approach is the best way to start. This is the one course I always bring visitors to play when we go down to Bend, one of our favorite golf denstinations.
