This municipal golf complex offers an executive nine hole course and an eighteen hole regulation course. The Monoacacy Course was built on flat terrain and features numerous trees and sand bunkers that will alter your shots. The course's signature hole is #3, requiring a long tee shot to a narrow, well-bunkered green. The Executive Course has wide open fairways that vary in undulation. The greens are small and elevated.

This is the course where I first played golf. It is a great place to learn since there are very few trees and very little trouble to get into.

I am an 18-20 HNCP. This course is fairly straight through most of the holes. The greens are generally in excellent condition for a public course - sometimes in excellent condition for a private course as well. The course plays long especially from the Blues - it is probably the longest course in the valley. The price is right and the restaurant in the club house is awesome - great value for bar food as well as some really good continental dishes.

Heron's Ridge
"Fun, yet challenging for any level golfer..."
The course will grow on you. The first time I played it, the course kicked my hind-parts. Every hole has a different look and challenge. The fairways and greens are always in great shape, even though they don't overseed in the cold months. Because the course sits high, even though it was built on wetlands, there is always wind, and therefore a challenge. The course will beckon you back time and again. Very nice play and good staff.

"TOUGH GREENS"
I live in the neighborhood so, I've played it many times. Very nice course. Be in shape if you're gonna walk it, though, it isn't called Hilltop for nuthin! Competitive rates, great conditon. These greens are TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF. They're fun though, as is the whole course. Lotta trees lining the fairways, so you gotta keep it straight. Not a lot of water comes into play, just a few holes.

A very easy course, it probably makes the membership feel good about their game. I shot a very mundane 2 under and did not strike the ball that well. There is not much that can be done with this very boring layout, however they could focus on the irregular and unkempt greens. The one star would be for the adequate service at the clubhouse.

Throckmorton Country Club
"The Best Little Course in West Texas!"
This 9 hole course is the hardest little course I have ever played! If you think the Links is hard wait until you play this bad boy! The hardest hole would probably be #7. This par 5 may look easy when you step up on these elevated tee boxes but just wait until you tee off. Thats when the adventure begins. The second hardest would the #5. This par 4 dogleg right is probably the hardest par 4 on the course. Of course there are a few easy holes thrown in just so you don't lose your confidence. So if you are ever traveling through Throckmorton; be sure and stop to play "The Best Little Course in West Texas!"
