6 Hour round, May 11, 2004

We "tried" to play on sunday morning. We were backed up from the first hole on. Every hole got worse and worse, took about 17 minutes a hole to play. This was the worst round of golf we have ever played. Would not recommend this place to anyone. We left after the 14th. hole it was so bad.

Carolina Golf & Country Club
"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. Creekview Golf Club
"Longest Corse I've Ever Walked"
The Creekview Golf Corse is an amazing golf corse . It's long and it's tough. And it also requires an extreme amount of skill. I recently had a tournament there in the fall of 2003 and believe me the extra money for the cart is worth it if you have to carry your own clubs.

according to an article in The Bradenton Herald the golf course has been sold and will be developed into 542 new homes.This is sad because it was the only walkable golf course in Manatee County. It will be missed.

Grand Beach Golf Course
"Wally and Theve"
This used to be a great starter course, but it is way over priced for 9 holes. For 18 holes on a weekend it approaches $35. It is trying to be something it isn't. Used to play there all the time. Do not go there any more.
