This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. The original course was especially designed with seniors in mind. This is a very scenic resort on the Appalachian Trail. The Cherokee Course, designed by Rocky Roquemore, is the newest nine built in 1992. It is described by the course professional as a "target" course. The Choctaw Course, with the Creek Course, comprise the original eighteen holes built back in 1972. These courses play fair because there are no blind shots and all the trouble is visible. These two courses favor straight tee shots. The rough is playable, but any ball hit beyond the rough into the trees will probably not be found.

pretty scenery, pretty tough, Nov 05, 2006

Just spent a week at Big Canoe and was very impressed with the course. Only two nines opened now as the Cherokee course has been redesigned and will open in December. Beautiful scenery with some demanding holes. Trees, trees everywhere so being straight off the tee is a bonus. Good greens with great use of natural hazards. Several holes go around the lake for the Creek course. Well worth the trip!

It's the offseason now and we've just returned from 27 holes at Tamahka Trails. The rate was very reasonable, service second to none and the course ... well this old cajun boy has never played a finer course in his life and may never still. The people made us feel as though we never left our home town. They treat you with kindness and respect, catering to your every whim. Let me tell you it was one of the very best golf outings I've ever had (and plan to have again). If you would like to experience golf as it should be ... try Tamahka Trails. You won't be disappointed. And by the way ... for a course this nice the seasonal rates are good also. See you there ...
