This award-winning club offers two regulation eighteen hole courses, the North Course and the championship South Course. The North Course mirrors a Scottish links-style design, and the greens are loaded with subtle breaks. The tree-lined fairways were built on gently rolling terrain. Water hazards come into play on four holes. "Golf Digest" rated the North Course as the 19th "Best in State" Course for 1995-96, and 7th best for 1997-98. The 1924, 1937, 1961, 1985 and 1996 U.S. Opens were held on the South Course. Robert Trent Jones redesigned the South Course before the 1952 U.S. Open and again in 1972 and 1984. He also redesigned the North Course in 1969. Arthur Hills did a redesign on the South Course in 1987. "Golf Digest" named the South Course "Best in State" for the years 1995 through 1998. The same publication rated it 12th among "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 10th for 1997-98. In addition "GOLF Magazine" chose it 13th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 14th in 1997 and 16th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" selected it 15th in the category of "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1998 and 1999, and 19th for 1997. Water hazards (two ponds and one creek) come into play on three holes. The course was built on rolling terrain and only features a few trees bordering the fairways. The signature hole on the South Course is #16, a 406-yard, par 4, requiring two well-executed shots up a dogleg right fairway to reach its very small green. The last five holes are known as the "Fearsome Fivesome." The clubhouse is a mirror image of George Washington's Mt. Vernon home.

This golf course offers a north and south course, if your a beginer the north course is for you and ifyou want more of a challenge then try the south course. They also provide highly skilled caddies that will help you along the way.
