This well-maintained course features extremely wide fairways, so don't be afraid to break out the driver. This is a very demanding course because there are numerous trees that can affect your shots. Water hazards (lakes) come into play on at least six separate occasions, including on hole #11, a 192-yard, par 3, which has a lake sitting down the whole right side of the green. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 5th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and 8th among "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" from their list of "America's Best Golf Courses Everyone Can Play." They also awarded it 24th among the "Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990, and rated it the 8th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. The Oregon toll free number is (800) 452-6376. This course has so much potential. As it stands it is still one of the best courses in Houston for one thing and one thing only: Greens. It is just unfortunate that it has changed management hands several times in the last few years. In the process, each regime has focused on different things. Mostly cutting back on what the previous management did. No overseeding fairways in winter, Sand bunkers that qualify as gumbo bunkers, No restrooms on course, carts that badly need replacement. To compete with area course price points, they have dropped their average rates. What this means is more course play with less revenue. Couple this with the fact that there is less maintenance staff and no one fills in divots. Looks like a bombing campaign afterphoto on some fairways. The claim to fame is "Best greens in Houston". While this may still be true, the overall package is declining. I am concerned that even the greens may suffer as a consequence of the extra play and reduced maintenance. They used to put balls out on the range, but no more. They have some funky bag system where you lug these large red bags to the range with you. It could be so much better. Aesthetics are an afterthought. Actually, no one is thinking of aesthetics at all. I think they just keep thinking they can coast on the fumes of the reputation of their greens. Their slogan when the club opened 6 years ago was "Country Club for a day". An updated version would be more like "Mcgolf with your redneck buddies for a day".

Sand Ridge Golf Club
"Best of Ohio"
Sand Ridge is one of the best golf courses in the country. Even though greens are not all that fast they are always in perfect condition at all times of the year and the fairways are some of the best i have ever played from. The caddie program has some of the best and friendliest caddies in the nation.

Goose Creek Golf Club
"VA Goose Creek Golf Nice"
Played this course again last week, love the layout, open with a par 5 uphill to unseen green. Small greens, need to have nice high shot to stick'em. Par 3's protected by sand. Nice walk.
