This links-style course offers a panoramic view of the ocean from every hole. There are several uphill and downhill shots and many irregular lies due to the hilly terrain. The last three holes play over a fresh-water marsh, which represents the course's only water hazard. Hole #18, a 467-yard, par 4, has been voted the best finishing hole in Northern California. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. also designed the back nine, which was added in 1987. There are separate green fee rates for Friday. A warm-up center is also available.

Fly a kite, Jun 17, 2004

Great place to fly a kite I'll bet. Have played many times and it's a different but good experience each time. A beautiful course, well maintained with terrific ocean views. Wish I could remember which hole that double dog leg, down hill par 5 was. Lost several balls there. Keep the ball low on western shots or watch it sail back to you. Great sea food down the road.

The course plays different every time. The prevailing winds are from the NW but when they change the course plays very different. Accuracy is the number one here. The rough is unplayable in most cases. In general a very rewarding golf experience.

Allegheny Country Club
"Love It!"
Allegheny offers a very private, and enjoyable experience. The course is rarely busy, and offers a real challenge with the short stick. Many of the holes are a bit short, but if you can't putt, you will not score well. The ground are kept in immaculate condition, and the scenery, especially on the back nine, is breathtaking.

"Tough Day"
I played this course with my brother,(scratch) on a Saturday in September 2003. We found it easily, we paid and went thru the rather surly starter and we were off, there wasn't much of a wait on the first tee. The first couple of holes were standard, it was a rather breezy day so I was really challenged to keep my ball on our the fairway.(this would be my problem for most of the round). Nice elavation changes, and the course looked great compared to it's neighbor,(whitetail). Dogs and beer at the turn. The back nine was just as nice as the front. Immaculate greens with challenging pin positions. Afterwards it was a couple of more beers and burgers at the lounge. Good food. If we had more time we would have gone to their fine dining restaurant, got a glance at their menu, looked really nice. great sunset too! Overall a great day.

Don't usually take the time to do this sort of thing,(leave comments), -BUT, this club is really nice! I can't believe there isn't a crowd waitin to get thru the gate! - VERY PLEASANT COURSE! And REASONABLE FEES! I'll tell my friends back here they need to come to Hauppauge! - VERY NICE TIME! Try it, folks!
