LB, it is unfortunate that you played the course after a much needed aerification. Aerification is needed to remove organic matter build-up that restricts infiltration. It also helps with compaction issues and allows turfgrass roots to "breathe" a little better. There are many more benefits to aerificaiton as well, but to help the grass repair after a core aerification top-dressing with sand is incorporated; very similar to the idea of filling a divot on the fairway. After the green has been top-dressed, the greens are dragged with a brush to help groom the sand into the injured turf. Rolling a green is done to increase speed and correct minor disruptions in the turf. Rolling will not have any real affect on the ball roll directly after a core aerification.

Played 7 June 2006 and found greens horrible. They had been aereeated and sanded, but they forgot to brush and roll greens afterward. Each time the ball hit an upraised part of green where plug had been removed, the ball hopped in tune to "Army Golf", right, left, right, left, etc. You had no idea where it was going next Very poor greens maintenance. I woould not play the course again until greens have returned to original shape. Other than that, layout is very good.......

Jennings Mill is a fun course to play. It has a challenging layout and is in decent condition. Even if the range isnt very wide it challenges you to hit it straight. Make sure you dont hit any houses!
