Built in the coal mining mountains of Tennessee, this course is hilly and has many water hazards and trees coming into play. The signature hole is #12, a 425-yard, par 4, requiring a shot over water. The Country Club of Bristol has just celebrated their 100th birthday. This club once hosted the State PGA Tournament. This club was originally founded in 1894 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. In addition, it was recognized in "GOLF Magazine's" 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America."

The Country Club of Bristol was completely redesigned about 4 years ago and now has Zoysia fairways with a slightly modified layout. It is easily one of the top courses in East Tennessee/SW Virginia.

This is where I learned how to play golf when I was 4 and played throughout high school. If I hadn't moved away I would still be playing there every weekend. This is in the top 5 courses I have played in the country.

Twin Hills Golf Course
"Short and well maintained"
Twin Hills is a short course - 6000 yards according to the card, and even that might be a stretch. The game starts on the greens here; they are among the most difficult in the area because of the undulations. The best holes are the par 3s. The facilities are barebones - no proshop, small and dated clubhouse. No frills golf, but they seem to have course maintenance down to a science.

Ramsey Golf Club
"Good Challenge"
Although Ramsey might not be in the best shape it is still a very challenging course with a tough layout. You can find yourself in trouble of pretty much every hole on the course if you don't hit it straight or know how to shape your ball. Take advantage of the easy start Holes #1 and #2 provide as the rest of the front can be a major challenge. The back 9 can be long but there isn't as much trouble.
