The land that this scenic course is built on was once part of an old southern plantation, and later was the site where Confederate soldiers held reunions. The signature hole is #13, a 172-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot across a scenic pond to the green. The course is spread out over 150 acres and has many mature trees lining its fairways, but the fairways are so wide that these trees seldom come into play. There are water hazards that come into play on four holes.

Ease of play, Mar 23, 2004

|Brownsville lacks one hole of having a terrific layout. Hole #2 is a par 5 that needs help. Greens year in and year out have been a problem. Hardpan surface and lack of consistant grass make every chip and putt an adventure. Cost and speed of play make it a place to play. Not a course that you bomb away with yout driver each hole. Water hazards throughout the course (7 holes) and out of bounds on 7 holes provide excitement. Definitely a place to see at least once.|
