Best course in the LRGV, Sep 30, 2008

This is simply the best course in the LRGV. It is very well-maintained, great value, great views, challenging length, excellent staff and NOT too crowded. I highly recommend this course over others in the LRGV, particularly those up the valley.

My Winter Texan Friend from Illinois was lucky enough to win a round of golf for two as a door prize to River Bend - three of us played. What a treat to play this beautiful and challenging course! Of all the courses that we have played in the Valley, River Bend was by far in the best condition with lusher, greener and prettier fairway grass and greens. Everything was clean and well maintained. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the marshall that day. Had a wonderful day of golf. Hoping to go back soon.

Spectacular Rio Grande River views, May 03, 2004

This course has several holes that run alongside the Rio Grande River. The fairways and greens are Bermuda grass and very well maintained. Extremely pleasant scenery and course with a tough 17th semi-island green par 3. The course is part of a very neat and clean RV and small homes resort just outside of Brownsville, Texas. Thoroughly enjoyed the course, personnel and residents.

Elmwood Country Club
"Magnificent"
This course is quite enjoyable to play. While length is not much of a factor, it plays much tighter than it appears. It is a fun course, and one that will test your risk/reward skills. The course is well developed, and very hilly. I would suggest that you ride while playing this course as well. This course is one that I wouldn't mind playing any day of the week.

"Golf Heaven"
This wonderful Tom Fazio design offers a truly great experience. It can only be played with a member. Don't worry about a starting time or slow play, the members are rare. I've been told that if you can find a weed in any fairway, they will give you a membership! ($175,000/player plus dues) Every hole has it's own personality and most (10) involve water. A desert design that requires accuracy off the tee, and a back nine into an old quarry up in the mountains, the course is very challenging, but has incredible views of Indio (All putts break that way.) Chances are that you won't get the opportunity to play this track, but if you do, don't miss it!

Pleasant staff. Nice shop. Course is in excellent condition. Design is (generally) good, and owners continually spend money to improve the product. Very good value.

Indian Hills Golf Course
"Indian Hills GC"
This course is fun if you like to play your fairway woods and irons and dont mind keeping the driver in the bag for most of the round. However, my favorite part of the establishment is not the golf course itself, it is the expansive pro shop which features custom club fitting. It is the only place I trust with my clubs whether I'm getting new grips, shafts, or anything else.
