This is an enjoyable course that is geared to challenge a variety of golf skills, with particular attention paid to the advanced golfer. The greens are moderately undulating and fast. Although well-bunkered, the greens accommodate roll-up shots. Most of the fairways are open with some holes lined by mature oaks. The signature hole is #16, a 441-yard, par 4, which requires a demanding tee shot. A creek runs across the fairway approximately sixty yards short of the well-bunkered green.

Southern Oaks is a course full of hidden challenges. Early morning greens wet with dew are surprisingly fast. There are a few hole that are right in your face and dare you to come and get it. Par 5's are reachable in 2 if you are patient, and the rough is just that "rough". The rough on this course is very unforgiving. Keep it in the fairway and you can better than par the course, play it from the rough and 10 over is only the beginning.

Elegance To A Tee!, Jul 29, 2009
reviewer: M. Levy from Burleson, TX
The men's group at church played here a couple of weeks ago.Very challenging! The par 5 on hole one was awesome.Despite the sweltering Texas sun, the fairways were immaculately maintained. Great round!

Rude, inconsiderate General Manager, Apr 16, 2009
reviewer: Dr. James William Turner from River Crest Country Club, Fort Worth TX
The General Manager is Michael Park. He is rude, inconsiderate and frankly doesn't care if you play there or not. We had a foursome on 3/29/2009 and unfornately came in contact with this inconsiderate, short tempered, "General Manager!" He should be raking sand traps - not running a golf course. WE WILL NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN!

demanding but fun golf course, Nov 19, 2007
reviewer: Bobby Joe Brown from Burleson, Texas USA
This golf course is well bunkered and not much water, just a few creeks here and there. This is a really fun golf course to play at. Some holes long and some short they balance themselves out. Deffinately some birdie holes and some that you are happy to get pars on. Also some holes narrow and some wide. There is a variety of almost everything out there and usually is in good condition. Also the green fees are cheap.

Mitch Martin's Golf Outing, May 08, 2005
reviewer: Mitch Martin from Fort Worth, TX USA
The design of the course was very good. The layout was also done extremely well with a lot of fairway to work with and long holes to hit your driver with. The greens were okay, they still needed a little work done on them. I really liked the amount of space between the holes. You never had to wory about playing from another fairway with an erant tee shot or dodging erant tee shots from other holes.

Good Golf, Feb 25, 2005
reviewer: Dallas Wheat from Colleyville TX
I've played this course a couple of times and found it to be in very good condition both times. I had heard how hard it was but just move up a tee box, if you play from the tips bring your A game but that is why they have several tee boxes. Nice layout and a good course. Close to restaruants when you finish.

Course is challenging but reasonable. The vast options of either tips or club tees makes the course playable for all levels of golfers.Just one suggestion, too expensive on the weekends.
