This course is very demanding on certain holes because of the rolling hills and narrow fairways. Water comes into play on five holes.

Lots of Fun!, May 25, 2007
reviewer: Alan from Scottsdale, Az
It had been three years since I last played this course. It has dramatically improved with fairways and greens now in top notch shape. Not all that long, but challenging and fun. They treat guests well and the dinner after golf was excellent. Dramatic landscape and views on many holes. Looking foward to being invited back.

Classic, Fair Design, Nov 17, 2004
reviewer: Avid Golfer from CA
The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr., and was opened in 1968. Thanks to their genius, it is a great, classic course that you will never get bored playing. This course requires all facets of your game. There are up hill holes, down hill holes, right to left doglegs and left to right dog legs. It is a shot-maker's course. The rough can be a bit clumpy and spotty, but this adds to the penalty of missing the fairways. The grass in the fairways can be a little uneven too but with the hiring of a new greens-keeper / superintendent, the greens are now rolling faster and smoother than ever and the fairways should be improving as well. The course is scheduled to get a whole new irrigation system too. Even though the course is set in the middle of Calabasas, you really feel secluded when playing there. The staff and members are warm and friendly, and the food is absolutely excellent!

A diamond in the rough, May 04, 2004
reviewer: Francis Deveroux from CA
This course has had some of the basic design features of it changed through the years. Although still a classic Trent Jones lay-out the former first hole is now the sixth, so the order of play on the front nine is changed. The existing ninth hole has had major changes; what once was a great dog-leg left is now a straight, albeit difficult hole. On the tenth a water hazard on the left has been filled in, as was a water hazard that crossed the fairway just short of the drive landing area on the par 5 fifteenth. The greens are now completely poa, and tend to get spongy in the summer and bumpy in the afternoon. The fairways are very very thin in the winter as the bermuda grass is not overseeded. The rough is a little inconsistant, with clumps of rye, bermuda and other grasses. There is also not an established "first" and "second" cut of rough, so a ball three inches off the fairway could really be sitting down, and be very penal in nature. Whenever the deferred maintainance gets taken care of this could be a spectacular course. It is a true diamond in the rough. I still would enjoy playing this course on a regular basis, it is fun to play, tough yet forgiving, but not at all at its true potential. The members seem to be friendly and warm, and the professional staff are fantastic.

MY OPINION ON COURSE.., Mar 30, 2004
reviewer: HOLLY from COLUMBUS, OHIO
IT IS A VERY NICE COURSE, ALTHOUGH I FOUND IT TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME B/C OF ALL THE ROLLING HILLS AND WATER TRAPS.. BUT FOR THE SEASONED PRO I BET THEY WOULD LOVE IT. IT ALSO WAS VERY BEAUTIFULLY LANDSCAPED. I'D GO AGAIN, AND HOPEFULLY DO BETTER!

Excellent course, Jan 21, 2004
reviewer: Anonymous from Anonymous
This is an well-designed, well-maintained course nestled among hills and oak trees about an hour west of downtown Los Angeles. It is a Robert Trent Jones designed course, located on land that was previously Warner Ranch. Many movies were filmed on this location, and each hole is named after one of the movies filmed there. It is not long, but it is a challege. Narrow fairways, oak trees, water, fast and undulating greens. Very interesting holes and pin placements.
