This course features many trees lining its fairways. There are many grass bunkers and sand bunkers spread throughout the course. Water hazards come into play on five holes. The signature hole is #5, a 417-yard, par 4, requiring the tee shot up a dogleg left, tree-lined fairway, then an approach shot over water to the green.

| Tierra del Sol is an excellent test of any golfers ability. Several holes present outstanding challenges with water, out-of-bounds, undulating terrain, and several difficult (blind) tee shots involved. The course becomes even harder when wind comes up as it often does in this Mojave Desert community. This is an outstanding course to play for the money. Only lack of conditioning excellence on some holes keeps this from rating higher. |
