This beautiful course is well maintained. The fairways are generous, and the greens are medium in size and speed. There is only one pond that comes into play on the course, and the terrain is hilly. The signature hole is #8, a 443-yard, par 4, requiring an approach shot to a sloping green. This course has been redesigned several times, and Robert Trent Jones, Sr. redesigned some holes in the 1960's.

This course desperately needs some capital improvements. Fairways are not mowed, greens are not rolled; although the Hewitts family own the course (inherited from their parents) they are tight w/ money to make necessary improvements. Relatively easy course except for #8.

Average course that is a very simple low 70's score for the low handicap golfers. Number eight is a tough low that leaves a 200 yard shot after a 260 yard drive. There are no Par 5's however some par 4's are very long. My favorite hole was number twelve that requires a straight uphill approach shot. I am a 14 year old and scored a 71 so its a very easy course.

Montecito Country Club
"My first course"
I grew up playing MCC. The main criticism of the track has always been that you never get a flat lie, which is often enough true, but a weak criticism nonetheless. When typically fast the greens are challenging (hint: everything breaks toward the ocean); on #13, if you don't keep it below the hole, any putt you don't sink will wind up all the way at the bottom. The course favors a longer driver, and offers plenty of challenge and opportunity for creativity. And you can't beat the view of the Pacific.

This is a no-nonsense par 3 course. Course is flat and wide open. Excellent place to get in a practice round or take kids or beginning golfers to. Low handicappers will not find this course challenging with the exception of a few water hazards. Fees are $15 monday through thursday.
