This beautiful course is well maintained. The fairways are narrow and tree lined, and the greens are medium in size and speed. The terrain is rolling, and ponds come into play on at least three holes. The signature hole is #5, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring an accurate tee shot up a dogleg left fairway.

This course is great. The front nine is very difficult, with 4 hard starting par 4's. The first 6 holes wind through the woods and provide a tough start. The course then opens up at 7 and stays this way thru 18. These holes, while wide open, are very susceptible to the area's high winds. The back nine is hilly and requires intelligent, not brawny, golf to conquer. The finishing hole is only 288 yards, but if the tee shot is placed poorly, the strangely sloping green and bunkers will make recovery very hard. Though there are only 9 bunkers on the course, the wind, steep and fast greens, and slopes will provide good challenges. The 1st, 2nd, 10th, 16th, and 17th greens are impossible if youre above the hole. Conversely, the 14th green runs away from you, and if you dont run the ball down the fairway, it will release out of bounds behind the green. Overall, I highly recommend this course to any golfer. But it is most appreciated by the golfer who understands subtle course design. The experience is very friendly, and the clubhouse has great food. I think anyone in the Cooperstown area who plays Leatherstocking Golf Club should drive 30 minutes to Canajoharie for a casual, but fun and challenging round of golf.

harder than it looks, especially from the back tees. hardest holes are #3, 4, 9, 12. don't miss the green on 4, its cetain death. 9 is a 207 yard par 3 over a pond that plays like 220 when there's wind. 12 is a long 457 yard par 4. the front 9 is longer and more penal, but the back is shorter and requires more strategy. the greens are terrific and the pro Ian is really nice. a great value

this course isn't especially easy, especially from the blue tees. you have to get in the fairways. the par 3's are longer than they seem, and the greens are perfect. if you have never gone, go. its worth eighteen bucks
