It seems like they made the upgraded back nine as ridiculous as possible to make up for the mind numbing boredom of the front nine. Bad food and service too.

I have played this course several times and found it to be in great shape. The course is very challenging and as mentioned the back nine is very difficult with water and long par 5's. Great course for the price. Highly recommend

Tough back nine, Feb 24, 2004

The front nine is pretty straight forward, added soem distance in the last five years or so, so the couse is well over 6000 yards. Impecibly upkept, tough greens. The back nine is TOUGH more than one carry over water of over a hundred yards, elevetad greens, hilly fairways. very hard to get a flat lie on the back nine. Bring your patience to play here

"Delightful Donald Ross Challange"
This private course was designed by Donald Ross to be a resort course in the early twentieth century. It was purchased after World War II by locals and formed into a club known as San Jose Golf and Country Club and has been sucessfully maintained as the private club since. It is the home course to many prominent Jacksonville residents. One must be a member or guest to play. It is a par 72. The greens are all adjacent to the tees, so that it can be walked easily. There are water hazards sprinkled throughout the course, which make it a dangerous layout for errant shots. The moderately fast greens are well maintained Burmuda and are sometimes puzzling with rolling configuration. A mature course--kept in excellent shape year-round.

Witch Golf Links, The
"Challenging and well maintained"
The Witch Golf Course near Myrtle Beach is a challenging and scenic course. Unlike other courses nearby that were built in clear cut areas, the Witch is in part forest and part swamp. One hole in particular is memorable, you drive onto an island fairway, then you use a medium iron to an island green, with swamp in all directions. Wild game is seen throughout the course area. If I lived in the Myrtle Beach area, I would obtain a membership at the Witch.
