This facility has two regulation eighteen hole courses. Both courses are well maintained and mostly feature large greens. The Dales Course, built on somewhat flat terrain, is longer than the Hills Course. However, mounds in the generously wide fairways can cause uneven lies. The Hills Course, built on hilly terrain, features undulating greens. The most difficult hole on the Dales Course is #9, a 202-yard, par 3, requiring a long tee shot to a well-bunkered green. The most difficult hole on the Hills Course is #3, a 413-yard, par 4, requiring a long tee shot, then an approach shot to a severely undulating green. The ladies' par is actually 75 for both the Hills and Dales Courses.

The worst customer service in Stark County, May 20, 2004

I've never been treated with more rudeness and utter lack of concern than I have been at Tam O'Shanter. I find most golf courses to employ bitter and rude people, but Tam O'Shanter takes home the prize. Not to mention the fact that fairway mowers will not clear the way for your shot. I even had one guy mow right over my ball on the Hills course. First class jerks!!!

Piney Valley Golf Course
"Not too bad"
This golf course offers an exersise of the mental game and practice on accuracy. This course is one of the nicest in the area. The front nine offers chances to let loose and holes to decide what club to hit. The back nine is more flat yet a bit more difficult due to the mind set of trying to reach in two. This course is not a five because easyness and choices of veggitation and is not a four because of it being on a military base ( security check gates) however for someone who doesn't want to travel an hour or two away its nothing to complain about.

Whidbey Golf & Country Club
"Great Secret"
Who would think that such a great course would be in Whidbey. The course has some challeging holes as well as some scenery. For some of you big hitters it has a couple of holes that tempt you to go for it. I wouldn't if I were you. Looks can be deciving. If they don't get you the slope on the 18th green will. Stick it close. A great secret.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. Liberty Country Club
"Great Condition and Layout"
This course has a beautiful layout and hole construction. Similar to the old "country club" style courses, this smaller operation club gets the job done with what must be a low budget because the course is just in outstanding shape. The bent-grass fairways look good all year round and maintain their grass even in the hot summer afternoons of August. They also had great deals available for play during the week and for people wanting to have an outing. I'm definitely going to play at the Liberty Country Club again.
