This is almost impossible to play for the first time. There are no yardfage markers on the sprinklers (as there are on most quality public courses). They have gone overboard with the cart rules, especially since the paths tend to go thru the meager woods. It leaves you no sense of the layout of the holes. Sometimes I had to take 4 clubs with me and hope I had the right one, because I had no idea how far I was from the green. The yardage book was cryptic and often inaccurate. Overall a beautiful day of golf was ruined by a course which was not hospitable to visitors, basically user unfriendly.

I played near Labor Day in 2006 and conditions were terrible- greens and fairway were burnt out and ragged. Another course in area was in much better condition. For the price, a big disappointment. The layout was interesting.

Cape May National is a lot of fun to play. It is my favorite course at the shore because it is challenging but you have some birdie oppurtunities. It is a much harder course from the tips but it is very interesting and pleasing to the eye. There is nature everywhere. Early morning is the way to go here so that way u can get your beach time also. I play this course every year and this year it was by far the best maintained. You need to watch out for the tuff holes on the back nine 11,15,16,18 and the par threes are pretty challenging i don't recall there numbers. ON 18 YOU MUST KNOW WHERE THE PIN IS OR ELSE YOUR APPROACH SHOT MAY LEAVE U A 3-PUTT!! IF ITS ON TOP TRY TO USE THE HILL. thats from years of experience the hard way 3 putt after 3 putt
