This mountain course has fast, undulating greens and narrow fairways. Despite the course's mountain setting, most holes play downhill and the elevation change is only 110 feet. Water hazards come into play on nine holes. "Golf Digest" rated this course 32nd best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 20th best for 1997-98. It was also rated as the 2nd "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. Other awards include "GOLF Magazine's" ranking of 44th in the category of "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 52nd for 1997 and 48th for 1999. In addition, "GOLFWEEK" awarded it 8th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 6th for 1998 and 5th for 1999. Guests must be accompanied by a member in order to play the course. Due to the private nature of the club, the various cart and green fees are not available for publication.

I have played THE WADE numerous times.I am a scratch golfer and have shot between 66 and 72 each time.It is a Fazio course.The holes do not flow well.The scenery is beautiful but the course is actually dull.All very stuffy.The best and most enjoyable course is just down the road.The Country Club of Sapphire Valley.A real gem.Flows great.Has all the shots.Very friendly people.Great greens.A real pleasure for all levels of golfers.

Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
"Marshallia Rocks"
This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

Whispering Pines Golf Club
"Childhood Hole in One"
I got my hole-one-on the par-3 7th. Its the kind of hole that it could happen any day to any of us. And hey, thats gotta be worth something!!! The green is two tiered and the top tier is hard to stay on, the ball likes to role down to the bottom, always where the pin is. You tee off from above, the hole is about 120 yrds I think. So, get it on the green, watch it role and you've got yourself a chance my friend! Overall, the course is a 9 holer and its fun. Golf period...is fun, come on right.

Marshall Canyon Golf Club
"Trickier than you think and don't EVER walk."
Marshall Canyon is a fun course with some quirky holes but for the most part it is pretty fair. The greens are trickier than you think and there are some hole placements that totally suck if you get above the hole. It is a hilly course that you don't want to walk unless you are in very good walking shape. All in all, it is a good course with a decent price.

"west texas' best course"
A challenge for beginners, yet not so that you cant shoot par. Hole5 is the #1 handicap on the course, a challenging par 4 that will require a 260+ yard drive down the fairway then you might use anwhere from a 5 wood down to a 4 iron and get it on the green and putt for birdie, that would be the best why to play it my opinion. If you play here the greens are fast and the rough is medium, there alot of trees onthe front 9 but nothing a intermidate to a master golfer couldnt handle. So if your an ameture this the best course to play in west texas.
