The West Virginia Golf Experience, Jun 30, 2004

Sleepy Hollow is the only reason I play golf. It's an inexpensive, laid-back atmosphere that also offers a challenging golf experience. Despite the lack of reserved tee times and relaxed rules on groupings, I find that play moves pretty quickly even on the weekends. We play every weekend and find that our membership, which runs less than $1500/year for a couple, quickly pays for itself. Sleepy Hollow puts on a number of events for members and guests including all kinds of tournaments and parties. Just about an hour from DC - highly recommended!

beautiful course, crap condition, Jun 24, 2004
reviewer: kernalzero from Anonymous
This is a beautifully designed course that takes advantage of the terrain of the eastern panhandle of WV. Unfortunately not much money is put back into the course. The greens aren't well maintained and there's no water sprinkling system (hot summers make for rough golfing and winter rules). This makes what I concider a good course bad due to a lack of adequate investment. $30 for a round including cart on a weekday is a way too much concidering better courses in the area are within 15 minutes.

Laid Back Golf, Feb 29, 2004
reviewer: Anonymous from Frederick, MD
Sleepy Hollow is a very good layout that suffers mainly from a lack of year round irrigation. The tees suck but the greens and fairways are usually in good shape. This is no frills golfing at its best. No tee times required. Just show up and play. There is no clubhouse to speak of, the carts don't always work, and you will encounter 5-somes and 6-somes (but don't worry; they play faster than most 4-somes). Why play there? Because the layout is demanding, you can meet some really interesting people, and it is cheap. All the golf you can play for around $20 if you walk, but you better be in pretty good shape if you plan on walking. Don't bother going if you are looking for a country club experience. This is a club that is out in the country and has that laid back attitude to go with it.
