This club was originally founded in 1786 and has been listed by the USGA as being the oldest golf club in the U.S. It was also named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America." The current course, which was built in 1925, includes marshes that surround the entire layout. The signature hole is #11, a 187-yard, par 3. The course is closed for maintenance on Mondays.

| This course is the oldest course in the U.S.A. started in 1786. I am doing a paper on leisure in the 17th and 18th century in American and would like the history of your club.The paper is for Bayou Bend study group which is the decorative wing of the MFA Houston. Thank you. |
