The club personnel said this is the third oldest course in the U.S. The course is located across from Lake Michigan and provides outstanding scenery for the golfers. The fairways are lined by trees and bordered by a standard cut of rough. There aren't any water hazards on the course, but there are plenty of sand bunkers. This course's most difficult hole is #5, a 355-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a fairly narrow fairway, then an approach shot to a well-bunkered green guarded by a tree situated in the center of the fairway approximately fifty yards in front of the green.

| I've played this course a few times every summer for the past 25 years. It's an excellent course to learn the game. You can see almost every flag when you tee off. Length is good, helps you work on all aspects of your game. Greens are well watered and cared for. The couse is friendly and warm, it offers the charm of Charlevoix of old. It's a personal favorite every time we visit the area. This year will be the first year we bring our two boys to play with us. I remember one summer playing with an older woman 70+ who beat me with 1 club. She played the entire round with only her 5 iron. I recommend a round at the Charlevoix public course. |
