This historic course, originally designed by Donald Ross, is the oldest course on its original site in Tennessee. It was formed eight years after the first golf club opened in the U.S. The club has a clubhouse that sits on a bluff and overlooks the Tennessee River. The course has narrow fairways, and its greens are very fast and undulating. The tributaries from the Tennessee River come into play on holes #1, 7, 8, and 9. There are some elevated tee boxes on this scenic course.

Fox Creek Golf Club
"A Best Buy in StLouis Metropolitan Area"
I will start by saying that while I am only 24 years old, I have been an avid golfer since age 7. I haven't played a huge number of courses in my lifetime, but I know a good course when I play one, and I know a bad course as well. I personally feel that this course plays better than the more well known Sunset Hills CC also in Edwardsville, while not requiring membership/friendship to play. I've played the Bay Point Lagoon Legend in Panama City (known to be one of the 5 toughest courses in the US), and I truly don't think it has much on Fox Creek difficulty wise. The trees alone on Fox Creek truly play havok with any shots that aren't riding the middle of the fairways. Several greens have large trees that block approach shots that aren't setup off the tee correctly. A smart player will leave his driver in the bad on most tees (unless you are confident in your big stick), however, due to the course's length, approach shots end up being taken with mid-to-long irons more than one would like. Couple this with water or OB on nearly every hole and multi-tiered undulating greens and you are looking at one tough course. The best part about this course is the low price. You can play for dirt cheap in my opinion for as fine a course as this one. The only knock in my book is that the course does not wear well through the year, either due to climate or an average greens-crew. So if you want to play a great course for a bottom dollar price, come early in the year (April-May). I promise you won't be disappointed.

Rock at Woodmoor, The
"The best course I've ever played."
This course is wonderful. I have a summertime home up on Drummond Island, and I play the rock every chance I get. It's just great, it captures the wonderful essence of the Island in a golf course. It's just a great place to be. You feel so alive, in the early summer morning being on this course. Plus the golf aspect is also great. It's a bit of a challenge, but when you're at the rock, you love the challenge. I guarantee, that unless you play the courses on the PGA tour, that the rock will be the best golf experience of your life.

"Ball Striker's Course"
Chantilly is fairly open and forgiving -- wide fairways and large greens. But due to its length you cannot bump it around. Unless you play the women's or seniors tees, you actually need to HIT the ball to get around in a decent score. No sculling it off the tee and still having a decent shot at the green here. Even off the white tees, most players need to hit driver on 12 or 13 holes. The combination makes this rather traditional track a fair test. The turf conditions and greens are generally quite good. But the tee boxes could use work, and there are drainage problems on a few holes. This is not the most visually stunning track you will ever play. No dramatic dog legs or elevation changes. BUT it is a great walker's course. Fairly level, with greens and tees close together. Old style.

"Nice course with many different challenges."
The front nine is a little on the mountainous side. There are plenty of water hazards and sand traps to hit around. This is a challenging course that you can have a lot of fun with.
