This course was built atop rolling hills. It has a combination of wide and narrow fairways, and the rough is generally cut relatively short. Some of the fairways are lined with hickory, oak, and maple trees which can measure as high as seventy feet. Water hazards (ponds and creeks) come into play on seven holes. There are only a few elevated tees, yet many holes offer exceptional views of Lake Oneida, the largest lake within the State of New York. This yardage is an estimate until a new scorecard is available.

Fun and breathtaking..., Aug 03, 2004

A friend and I were given directions by the pro at Green Lakes. It was a great recommendation! Some of the bunkers were clearly under repair, but the fairways and greens were in good shape. This course plays on two levels, and trekking between them (we walked) is a chore--up and down four times, but well worth it. This course challenges players in club selection and shot making. For eample, the par 4 #10 is 185 yards downhill to the 100 yard marker, but then it takes a 90 degree left turn over a creek to the green. Trees prevent long hitters from hitting the green in 1. Holes vary in style and challenge. I shot a 41/49 back/front (because that was the order of the day), which was a good score for me this season. The people were friendly, and there were very few people for a Friday.

"Sweet Little Nine-Holer!"
I have enjoyed this course for over 10 years. It seems to be a well-kept secret, however. The owner of the course and his wife are the finest folks you will ever meet. Although the course is short, it is demanding. You must place your shots very well in order to shoot a good round. Stop by and say hello to the nice folks that own and run the course.

"Childhood Hole in One"
I got my hole-one-on the par-3 7th. Its the kind of hole that it could happen any day to any of us. And hey, thats gotta be worth something!!! The green is two tiered and the top tier is hard to stay on, the ball likes to role down to the bottom, always where the pin is. You tee off from above, the hole is about 120 yrds I think. So, get it on the green, watch it role and you've got yourself a chance my friend! Overall, the course is a 9 holer and its fun. Golf period...is fun, come on right.

Don�t let this course fool you! If you play it from the blue tees it is a formidable challenge. There are some holes with tee shots that require a 200 yard carry over water (some days into the wind!) As well as a 190 yard plus par three with ponds and rivers all around it. The greens are nice and the grounds crew really works hard at keeping them that way. There are some narrow fairways guarded by 100 year old oak trees all the way down to the green on each side. It really plays more like a 126 slope and I believe it is rated incorrectly. Bring your straightest drives here.
