This course is very challenging because of its large greens that are easy to three putt on and narrow fairways. In addition, water hazards come into play on five holes, placing a premium on shot accuracy. Most of the fairways are tree lined, but a few are wide open.

Challenging But Fun, Apr 09, 2004

This course is challenging but, at the same time fun to play on. When I play here even when I play bad, I have a good time. If you are ever in Clarks Summit, PA, make a point of finnding somebody who is a member and ask them if you can play a round.(The people are nice around here).

Rainier Golf & Country Club
"One of the best In Seattle area"
Rainier Golf has everything for the family. Nice greens, beautiful fairways, ponds, and a great crew that takes care of it. It has an older clubhouse with French stying. Ron Proctor the last Superintendent, drove the course into a new direction by rebuiding all of the fairways, adding six to twelve inches of sand, drainage, and training the best crew to care for it. He kept up on new mowers, bringing high quality, cutting edge practices into the day to day maint. of the course. Rainier golf is worth the money. All done through two generations of golf Superintendent know how. Rainier is a links style layout, and challenging for everyone.

"Declining conditions"
Having played this course over the last ten years, I can't help but be dismayed by the declining conditions. It is a classic course that was consistently enjoyable until the last two years. In this time, the course condition, length of rounds and restaurant amenities have all gone downhill. I hope that they can turn this around because it is no longer worth the greens fee that they charge.

"My review"
A very nice course! I haven't played many course's, but this is my favorite. It's a nice looking course, flows nicely, and it's different (woods to link style), plus it's in my home town. The rates are reasonable, but they (non-resident)may need to be lowered a bit to get people through the gates. For a course this nice, it should have a functioning club house (i.e., bar, resturant, function hall, etc.), get Titleist as sponsor.
